Our approach to responsible craft is practical: choose clothing you will wear, understand its materials and care for the finished garment. We explain the cloth and construction, assess repairs and use your experience to inform the next order.
Begin with a garment that has a role
A useful order answers a clear need: regular work, a particular climate, formal invitations or a missing piece in your wardrobe. Establishing that role helps narrow the cloth and design choices and reduces the appeal of details that do not serve you.
We make no universal environmental-impact claim for custom clothing. Materials, production, transport, use and care all contribute to the garment’s wider footprint.
Know the material and its documentation
Composition, weight, weave and finishing tell you more than a general description such as luxury wool. A fine fiber designation can describe one characteristic without establishing durability or suitability for frequent wear. The specific fabric should be explained in the context of your needs.
Our fabric collection guide and fabric partners provide the starting context. Ask your clothier to identify the selected material and any documented origin information relevant to it. Any certification or origin claim should be supported for the selected material.

Construction and fitting should support use
A sound pattern and suitable construction work together. Internal structure should complement the cloth and silhouette, while fittings establish how the garment behaves on your body. Assess the finished shape, comfort and suitability alongside the construction details.
A comfortable garment is easier to reach for regularly. Discuss where you need room, how long you typically wear a piece and which climates it must handle. Our Fit Guarantee explains the complimentary fit alterations available for every custom garment during the 60 days after final pickup.
Care is part of ownership
Follow the instructions for the particular garment. Support its shape between wears, give it appropriate airing space and seek suitable help with unfamiliar marks or finishing methods. The suit care guide covers hanging, airing, cleaning and storage. Regular inspection also helps you notice wear or loose components before the next occasion.
Repair where the garment allows
A loose component, damaged lining or worn area needs its own examination. Some work may be practical; another request may be limited by cloth condition, available material or the location of the damage. Alterations and repairs explains why the proposed result should be discussed before work begins.

Questions and answers
Does custom clothing automatically have a lower environmental impact?
A complete impact comparison depends on materials, production, transport, use and care. We do not claim that custom clothing automatically has a lower impact.
Does a mill name prove a material certification?
No. A claim about a particular material or certification needs relevant documentation. The reputation of a supplier alone does not establish that evidence for every cloth.
Is the most expensive cloth always the most durable?
No. Price can reflect several characteristics, including rarity and fineness. Ask how the particular cloth suits your intended use and frequency of wear.
Should I assume any damage can be repaired?
No. The garment needs assessment. Material condition, the location and extent of damage and available replacement material determine what result is realistic.
