Tuxedos & black tie

The Custom Tuxedo

A custom tuxedo is cut from an individual pattern, with the shoulder line, lapels and trouser proportions developed for you. At Enzo Custom, tuxedos start at $645. Begin with the occasions you will wear it, then choose cloth, formal details and fit as one outfit.

Choose a tuxedo for your occasions

A tuxedo has a specific purpose. It sets an evening apart through a dark, uninterrupted outline and the contrast between cloth, facing and shirt. Before choosing a detail, establish where you will wear it: your wedding, an annual benefit, formal dinners or several different occasions. A first tuxedo often needs more range than a second dinner jacket.

Our guide to black tie explains the dress code. If your invitation leaves room for a dark suit, tuxedo or suit addresses that choice. Start with the events on your calendar.

An individual pattern for jacket and trousers

Enzo Custom drafts an individual pattern for your jacket and trousers. More than 30 measurements are assessed alongside posture, shoulder slope, asymmetry and the way your arms rest. Those observations determine how the garment hangs; they cannot be reduced to chest and waist size.

The jacket should settle close to the collar without forcing you into an artificial stance. The front should remain calm when fastened, with room to sit and move. Trousers must meet the jacket at a useful height so that a strip of shirt does not interrupt the evening silhouette. Lapel width, button stance and jacket length are resolved together.

Full canvas is the standard for structured jackets, with half canvas used when appropriate or requested. We do not use fused jacket-front construction. The choice of structure should support the cloth and the wearer, rather than add weight for its own sake.

Choose cloth, color and lapels

DecisionA restrained starting pointWhat to discuss
ClothDark evening cloth with a clean surfaceSeason, warmth, texture and frequency of wear
ColorBlack or dark midnight blueHow the actual cloth reads beside its facing
LapelPeak or shawlWidth, curve and relationship to your chest
TrousersA clean waist with side adjusters or bracesRise, room through the thigh and break
ShirtWhite formal shirtFront, collar, cuff and fastening

These are starting points, not a compulsory uniform. Peak and shawl lapels create different lines. Choose smooth satin or the subtle ribbed texture of grosgrain, with lapel facing colors including black, midnight blue and burgundy, alongside other available shades. Your clothier will help coordinate the finish with the cloth, covered buttons and trouser trim.

See the full outfit at the fitting

The shirt collar affects the apparent length of the neck. The bow tie changes the space above the lapels. Shoes determine where the trouser hem should finish. Bring the pieces you intend to wear, or settle their specifications before the final assessment.

Enzo Custom normally works through two to three fittings. New clients are measured in a showroom, where posture and balance can be assessed in person. Standard garments typically take three to four weeks; cloth availability, imports and fitting requirements can extend the schedule. Confirm the entire plan against the event date.

Custom tuxedo prices and your appointment

Custom tuxedos start at $645. Your selected cloth, construction and design determine the final price, confirmed before production. Custom tuxedo cost explains how to compare that decision without confusing a starting price with a complete outfit.

Browse the tuxedo collection to establish a direction. At the appointment, photographs serve as references for proportion and mood; your pattern, posture and intended use determine the finished garment.

Questions and answers

What makes a tuxedo different from a black suit?

A tuxedo is designed as eveningwear, with coordinated formal details such as lapel facings, covered buttons and formal trousers. A black suit can be elegant, but its color alone does not make it a tuxedo.

Can my tuxedo have a softer shoulder?

Yes. Shoulder expression is selected around your build, the cloth and the intended silhouette. A softer appearance still requires accurate shoulder slope and balance.

Do I need to know every detail before booking?

No. Bring the event date, dress code and any references you like. The appointment resolves cloth, proportion and the details as one outfit.

Can a first tuxedo be midnight blue?

Yes. A dark midnight blue can be a versatile evening choice. Compare the actual cloth and facing in more than one light before deciding.

Are accessories part of the starting price?

The tuxedo starting price should not be treated as a complete-outfit quote. Confirm the garments, accessories and selected details in your order before production.
