Suit Alterations and Repairs

Suit alterations can refine fit, while repairs address worn cloth or damaged components. Bring your Enzo garment for an assessment: the available material, construction and position of the issue determine the work possible and the result you can expect.

By Enzo Custom editorial

Describe the concern before choosing an alteration

Start with the concern rather than the presumed alteration. “The sleeve twists when my arm is relaxed” gives the clothier different information from “make the sleeve shorter.” The first describes the result that needs assessment; the second may direct work toward the wrong cause.

Bring the garment and explain whether the issue was present at pickup, appeared with use or followed a change in your measurements or preferences. We review the recorded design and confirmed fit alongside the garment.

Assess jacket and trouser fit on the body

A jacket’s shoulder, collar, sleeve and balance are connected. Trousers need their own review of waist position, rise, seat and leg shape. A photograph can help communicate a concern, but it cannot fully establish comfort or the way a garment settles after movement.

Wear the relevant shirt and shoes when possible and stand naturally. The suit fitting guide explains the sequence your clothier may review before pinning or marking a correction.

Know the limits before work begins

The amount of available material, location of pockets and buttonholes, existing seams and garment construction affect what an alteration can achieve. Some work can refine a garment cleanly; other requests would disrupt its proportions or leave visible evidence.

We explain the proposed work, expected result, timing and any applicable charge before proceeding. Adding substantial jacket length may be limited by the available cloth; a repair may remain visible depending on its position and material.

Fit alterations within 60 days after final pickup

Every custom garment we make is covered by our Fit Guarantee, with complimentary fit alterations for 60 calendar days after final pickup. The period begins when you collect the completed garment after its final fitting. Later alterations do not restart or extend the original 60-day period. Contact our concierge team within that period to arrange an assessment; agreed alterations may be completed afterward. See Our Fit Guarantee for our commitment if further attention is needed. This policy takes effect October 1, 2026.

We work with you through alterations to resolve concerns with your finished garment. In the rare case that alterations are not enough, we will remake it. If you remain dissatisfied after we have worked to resolve your concerns, we will refund the affected garment. New style requests and repairs after wear are assessed separately; your clothier explains the work before proceeding.

Let the result inform the next garment

Confirmed fit corrections should inform the retained pattern. When planning your next order, tell your clothier what changed and how the garment performed afterward. A repair history may also suggest a different cloth or a more generous fit for the way you wear it.

Follow the care guidance for the individual garment and bring concerns to the Enzo showroom handling your order. Early, specific information helps establish what the garment needs before unnecessary work is attempted.

Support for every custom garment

Suits, tuxedos, jackets, trousers, shirts and overcoats all receive the same 60-day Fit Guarantee after final pickup. If something needs attention, contact our concierge team so your clothier can review the garment. New design requests and repairs for damage or wear are assessed separately.

Questions and answers

Can any fit problem be solved through alterations?

No. Available material, construction and the nature of the pattern issue determine what can be corrected responsibly. Some concerns require a different resolution, including a remake when necessary.

Can a damaged area always be repaired invisibly?

No. The cloth, location, extent of damage and available material affect the possible result. The garment needs assessment before that expectation can be set.

Is a new style preference the same as a fit correction?

Not necessarily. A request to change the original design may differ from bringing a garment into the agreed fit. The work and any applicable charge should be clarified before proceeding.

Should I request a specific alteration myself?

Describe the concern and the result you want first. Your clothier can assess connected areas and explain which correction is appropriate rather than treating a symptom in isolation.
