The experience

Your First Custom Suit

For your first custom suit, bring four things: the occasion, your budget, the date you need it and the fit you want. Your clothier will narrow the cloth and design choices, measure you in the showroom and guide you through fittings. Suits start at $595.

Book time for your first suit

Choose First Visit, a 60-minute appointment, if you are new to Enzo Custom. Meet one-on-one with a clothier to explore fabrics, fit and design; we take your measurements so everything is ready when you are. Many clients place their first order the same day. There is no obligation to place an order at your first visit.

If you have already visited but have yet to order, choose Returning Clients, also 60 minutes. For a wedding or event, choose Weddings & Events, whether this is your first visit or a later one.

Prepare four essentials before you arrive

You do not need a finished design before arriving. Bring your intended use, a comfortable budget, the date you need the garment and any clothing or photographs that explain your preferences. Choosing a custom suit covers the garment decisions in detail. Here, the focus is what to bring, discuss and check during your first appointments.

Explain where you will wear the suit

Think about the next year of wearing it. Is this your main business suit, a wedding suit or a garment for occasional formal events? Those uses may overlap, but identifying the main one makes decisions about cloth, color and construction more focused.

A dark navy or charcoal suit can serve a broad range of business and social settings. That is a practical starting point, not a requirement. If your first order is for black tie, a custom tuxedo answers a different dress code and should be planned accordingly.

Bring a budget and useful references

Enzo custom suits start at $595, with the selected order price confirmed before production. Establish a comfortable budget before looking through cloth so your clothier can present relevant choices. Custom suit pricing explains the category floors and the decisions behind the final quote.

A photograph can communicate a shoulder line or overall mood, but explain which part you like. Bring a garment whose fit you enjoy if useful, and describe where other clothing has disappointed you. That gives the clothier practical information beyond a request for something slim or classic.

PurposeWhere will I wear this most? The main use should guide the order

Let the clothier narrow the cloth selection

The fabric library is broad, but your first appointment need not become an examination of every option. Compare a relevant group by composition, weight, weave, texture and appearance. Ask how each one fits the job you identified.

A fabric’s name or fineness does not guarantee that you will enjoy wearing it. Our fabric collection guide explains the trade-offs, while the actual samples let you assess color and feel. Your existing shoes, shirts and outerwear also help determine what will be useful.

Describe shape and comfort in specific terms

Discuss the shoulders, jacket length, button stance and trouser rise together. A restrained design leaves room for the cloth and proportions to lead. You can select personal details without treating the first suit as an opportunity to display every available option.

Enzo drafts an individual pattern from scratch for your first garment in each category. True Custom explains how professional measurements, posture and asymmetry inform that work. The pattern addresses those relationships from the start.

Bring your shirt and shoes to the fittings

Once your order is in progress and ready to try on, book a 30-minute Garment Fitting. At each fitting, stand naturally and move as you ordinarily would. Bring relevant shoes and a suitable shirt. Say where you feel pressure or excess, and distinguish a design preference from a comfort problem. How a suit should fit provides a helpful sequence for that review.

Standard garments typically take three to four weeks; rush is approximately two and a half weeks, subject to confirmation. Fabric availability, imported cloth and the fitting requirements can extend timing. Our process sets out the steps so you can plan against the date you need the garment.

Review the suit collection for a starting direction, then bring your intended use and preferences to an Enzo showroom. The first suit should make the next clothing decision easier because you understand the fit, cloth and proportions that work for you.

Questions and answers

What color should my first custom suit be?

Dark navy or charcoal can be versatile starting points for business and many social occasions. The right choice depends on your main use, existing wardrobe and the dress code you need to satisfy.

Do I need to understand tailoring before the appointment?

No. Explain where you will wear the suit, your budget and any fit issues you have experienced. Your clothier should translate those needs into appropriate choices.

Should I order several suits before seeing the first fit?

Discuss the sequencing with your clothier. Establishing and reviewing the first fit can provide useful information for later orders, especially when you are new to custom clothing.

Can one suit also serve as a tuxedo?

A suit and tuxedo serve different dress codes and use different formal details. If black tie is the main requirement, plan the appropriate evening garment rather than assuming a dark suit is interchangeable.

Can I return to place my first order after an earlier visit?

Yes. Choose Returning Clients, a 60-minute appointment, if you have visited us before. Your clothier continues from your recorded measurements and preferences, reviewing any changes before the order is placed. If the order is for a wedding or event, choose Weddings & Events. There is no obligation to place an order at your first visit.
